We have all heard "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure". Never has this statement been more true.
In this already-strained economy, taking your dog to the vet and being faced with paying the bill adds insult to injury, as more and more independent vet clinics are selling out to Big Pet Food.
These pet food conglomerates are not only producing the food that is making so many dogs sick, but they are now buying small vet clinics, creating one-size-fits all protocols, further pushing their ultra expensive, low quality, processed, foods that contribute to your dog's health decline.
Dog sick? Can't afford it? Don't like it? No problem, go someplace else.
It's the perfect storm for big profits to the stockholders.
What can we, as dog lovers, do about it?
1. Seek out smaller, independent veterinary clinics.
There are still wonderful veterinarians that remain small, and non-corporate.
2. Stop feeding commercial dog food!
While it might be true over the short term that it costs more to feed your dog a fresh, whole foods diet that uses only high quality, human-grade ingredients, over time, most dog lovers find that their vet bills are dramatically reduced because their dogs remain vibrant and healthy into old age, rarely needing a trip to the vet.
As a bonus to applying an ounce of prevention, heartache for you, as a dog lover, and needless suffering for the dog you adore, is dramatically reduced as well! These days, that in itself is priceless.
